the project is located slightly north of sicomines' operations and west of the metalkol mine, on the outskirts of kolwezi. it is named after the luilu district and the luilu river, which flows through the historic site to the south.
the project area can be accessed from the city of kolwezi via the n39 national road, which connects lubumbashi and kolwezi before leading to kanzene. this road is paved and has several checkpoints and toll stations. the project site is located approximately 25 kilometers northwest of kolwezi airport. it can be reached via a short dirt road (approximately 1.5 km) which then leads to the entrance road to the project and the plant.
the project is crossed by the river via the n39 bridge, which surrounds the plant. this is a considerable advantage for the project, given that the cu and co concentrations are remarkably high.
the site currently receives its power supply from three cat diesel generators, which appear to be in fairly good condition. they have a total production capacity of approximately 1030 kva at 400 v...
